Workman critical after MEWP overturns

Man severely injured after cherry picker topples on utilities project

The Mercury has reported that a workman is believed to be in a critical condition after falling 20m from a cherry picker in Hertfordshire on 9th August 2012.

The man is said to have been working on overhead pylons for utility engineering company Freedom. Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said:

“A man sustained a back injury and a serious leg injury after the cherry picker fell over. Land and air ambulance crews treated and stabilised him at the scene before he was taken by land to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage for further care.”

Steve Jones, a director at Freedom, said an investigation was underway. HSE are believed to be investigating the incident.
