Confined Space High-Risk with Mobile Training Unit
Learn to work safely in high-risk confined spaces including tanks, silos and chambers, in line with the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997. You'll develop the skills to recognise atmospheric hazards, apply permit-to-work procedures and use breathing apparatus and rescue equipment confidently.

The legal definition of a confined space, how to identify specified risks and the hazards associated with different types of enclosed environments.
• Risk assessment and hazard controls
How to carry out risk assessments for confined space entry and select appropriate control measures to manage identified hazards.
• Recognising atmospheric hazards
How oxygen deficiency, toxic gases and flammable atmospheres develop, and why conditions can change rapidly without warning.
• Using gas monitoring equipment
How to operate gas detectors correctly and interpret readings to make informed decisions about safe entry.
• Safe systems of work and permit to work
How to implement permits to work, define roles and responsibilities, and carry out top man duties during confined space operations.
• Communication during confined space operations
How to communicate effectively between the confined space entrant and the top man, including use of communication equipment and agreed protocols.
• Fall protection and rescue equipment
How to inspect and use tripods, winches and fall protection equipment in line with manufacturer and procedural requirements.
• Breathing apparatus
How to inspect and use emergency escape and self-contained breathing apparatus correctly and safely.
• Practical exercises
Completion of practical confined space exercises and scenario simulations to reinforce safe procedures in realistic conditions.

Practical observation of exercises and a short answer question paper, assessed by the course instructor.
