COSHH Training
Learn how to identify hazardous substances, assess the risks they present and implement appropriate control measures to protect yourself and others. You'll learn how substances enter the body and affect health, how to interpret GHS labelling, what the law requires of employers and employees, and how to select, use and maintain personal protective equipment correctly. This course is approved by IOSH and CPD-certified, and is completed entirely online.
• Introduction to COSHH
An overview of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002, the duties they place on employers and employees, and why managing hazardous substances is a legal requirement across all industries.
• Hazardous substances and exposure
How hazardous substances are defined, the routes by which they enter the body, how to interpret GHS labelling and warning signs, and the difference between acute and chronic health effects.
• Duties and responsibilities
How to identify substances that require risk assessment, record and review findings, understand health surveillance requirements and follow correct reporting procedures when exposure occurs or is suspected.
• Control measures
How to implement a hierarchy of control measures to manage exposure to hazardous substances, including substitution, engineering controls, safe working procedures and administrative measures.
• Personal protective equipment
How to select, fit, use, maintain and store PPE and respiratory protective equipment (RPE) correctly, and why PPE is the last line of defence rather than a substitute for other control measures.
• Assessment
Online knowledge checks and a summative assessment completed at the end of the course.

Any employee or contractor who may be exposed to hazardous substances as part of their role, across industries including agriculture, construction, catering, cleaning, engineering, beauty, hairdressing and welding. Suitable for new starters and as a refresher for experienced staff returning to COSHH-relevant work.
