EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Core Course
The EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Core course provides delegates with the essential health, safety and environmental knowledge required to work safely within utility and infrastructure environments. Designed to support a consistent approach to workplace safety across the utilities sector, the course helps delegates understand common workplace hazards, their responsibilities and the controls required to work safely and responsibly on site.

An overview of the EUSR SHEA scheme, its purpose and the importance of maintaining safe working practices within the utilities industry.
• Understanding Health and Safety Responsibilities
Learning about the duties and responsibilities of employers, employees and contractors in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
• Risk Assessment and Hazard Awareness
Understanding how workplace hazards are identified, assessed and controlled, and the role individuals play in managing risk.
• Safe Systems of Work
Exploring the importance of following site procedures, permits, method statements and other control measures designed to protect workers and the public.
• Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace
Understanding common occupational health risks and the measures used to protect physical and mental wellbeing.
• Environmental Awareness
Learning about environmental responsibilities and how work activities can impact local communities, natural habitats and the wider environment.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Understanding the selection, use and maintenance of PPE and its role in reducing workplace risks.
• Emergency Procedures and Incident Reporting
Learning how to respond appropriately to emergencies, near misses and incidents, and the importance of timely reporting.
• Working Safely Around Plant and Equipment
Understanding the hazards associated with workplace vehicles, machinery and equipment, and the precautions required to avoid accidents.
• Protecting the Public and the Workforce
Recognising the importance of safeguarding members of the public, colleagues and contractors while carrying out work activities.
