EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Power Training
The EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Power course provides delegates with the essential health, safety and environmental knowledge required to work safely within the electricity supply industry. Combining core workplace health and safety awareness with power industry-specific requirements, the course helps delegates understand their responsibilities, recognise workplace hazards and apply safe working practices when working on electrical infrastructure and operational sites. Successful completion provides an industry-recognised EUSR registration and demonstrates an appropriate level of safety awareness for access to electricity industry environments.
• Introduction to SHEA Power
An overview of the SHEA scheme, its purpose and the importance of maintaining safe working practices within the electricity industry.
• Understanding Workplace Responsibilities
Learning about the responsibilities of employers, employees and contractors in creating and maintaining safe and healthy working environments.
• Environmental Awareness
Understanding how workplace activities can impact the environment and the measures required to reduce environmental risks and promote sustainable working practices.
• Risk Assessment and Hazard Control
Learning how hazards are identified, risks assessed and suitable control measures implemented to protect people, property and the environment.
• Common Workplace Hazards
Understanding the hazards commonly encountered within utility and infrastructure environments and the practical measures used to control them.
• Occupational Health Hazards
Exploring workplace health risks including noise, vibration, hazardous substances, manual handling and wellbeing considerations.
• Emergency Procedures and Incident Response
Understanding how to respond appropriately to accidents, incidents, near misses and emergency situations.
• Power Industry Hazards and Risks
Learning about the specific hazards associated with electricity generation, transmission and distribution activities, and the precautions required to manage risk
• Electrical Safety Awareness
Understanding the dangers associated with electrical systems, equipment and infrastructure, including the importance of maintaining safe working distances and following approved procedures.
• Working on or Near Electrical Infrastructure
Exploring safe working practices when operating near overhead lines, underground cables, substations and other electrical assets.
• Safe Systems of Work
Understanding permits to work, risk assessments, method statements and other procedures used to manage high-risk activities safely.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Learning about the selection, use, maintenance and limitations of PPE used within the power industry.
• Behavioural Safety and Safety Culture
Understanding how personal attitudes and behaviours contribute to a positive safety culture and help prevent incidents.
• Assessment
Delegates complete the EUSR assessment to demonstrate their understanding of the SHEA Power modules and the safe working practices required within the electricity industry.
