NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NGC) Course
The NEBOSH National General Certificate is one of the most widely recognised health and safety qualifications in the world — and for good reason. Over ten days of structured learning, you'll develop the knowledge and practical skills to identify hazards, assess and control risks, manage health and safety across an organisation and contribute to a proactive safety culture. Assessment combines an open-book scenario-based examination with a practical workplace risk assessment project. On successful completion, delegates receive the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

• Monitoring and measuring performance
The difference between active and reactive monitoring, how to identify meaningful performance indicators and how audits, inspections and reviews contribute to continuous improvement.
• Physical and psychological health
How to protect workers from both physical and psychological harm, including the management of stress, fatigue and mental health alongside more traditional physical safety risks.
• Manual handling and musculoskeletal health
The risks associated with manual handling operations, how to assess and reduce those risks, and the broader musculoskeletal health considerations that affect workers across all sectors.
• Hazardous substances
How to manage the risks associated with chemical and biological agents in the workplace, including COSHH assessment, exposure monitoring and the selection of appropriate control measures.
• Work at height, confined spaces and vehicle movement
The specific risks and legal requirements associated with working at height, confined space entry and workplace vehicle movement, and the controls required to manage each safely.
• Machinery and work equipment
The risks associated with machinery and work equipment, how to identify and guard against dangerous parts, and the legal requirements under PUWER that apply to employers and operators.
• Fire safety
How to manage fire safety in the workplace, including fire risk assessment, prevention measures and the emergency procedures required to protect people in the event of a fire.
• Electrical safety
How to identify electrical hazards in the workplace, assess the associated risks and implement appropriate controls to prevent electrical accidents and injuries.
• Assessment
An open-book, scenario-based examination and a practical workplace risk assessment project, both completed as part of the NEBOSH qualification requirements.
Course delivered through instructor-led training with guided discussions, group activities and real-world case studies. Learners are supported throughout to prepare for both assessment components.
