Course Aim:
The aim of the training is to enable delegates to develop an awareness of the requirements of Lock Out Tag Out, in particular in relation to Machinery Safety. The training covers both legal requirements and best practice.
Further Information:
•Identify energy sources for common machinery and equipment
•The personnel/roles - authorised personnel (to assess, apply/remove LOTO).
•Consideration of isolation carried over several shifts (handover). to normal service
•LOTO application - prepare for shut-down, shut-down, apply LO or TO devices to energy isolation devices, treat
stored energy, verify isolation.
•Capacitors, springs, elevated machine parts,
flywheels, hydraulics, pneumatics, steam
pressure.
•Outline the procedure for applying and removing LOTO
•Electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic,
chemical, thermal.
Outline the purpose and importance of LOTO:
•Stored vs residual.
•Accident case studies.
•Single vs multiple LOTO
•For controlling maintenance activities.
•De-energise, restrain, disconnect, etc.
•Isolators - electrical, mechanical, etc.
•Outline methods of dealing with stored energy
