Course Aim:
The course is aimed at those individuals who have the responsibility of changing (or mounting) an abrasive wheel in accordance with HSG 17 (safety in the use of abrasive wheels). This covers hand held and fixed instillation’s (bench/ pedestal and surface grinders). This course is suitable for people who are involved in using hand-held cutting-off/grinding machines; bench and pedestal grinding machines, and have the responsibility of changing (mounting) abrasive wheels. It would also be suitable for those who act in a supervisory or management role and need to be aware of their responsibilities in relation to the use of equipment.

•Define what an ‘Abrasive Wheel’.
•Use the Abrasive wheel marking system to select the correct wheel.
•Correctly inspect an abrasive wheel prior to use.
•State the legislation that applies to abrasive wheel equipment.
•Correctly inspect and mount an abrasive wheel on different machines.

•Know the theory behind balancing a wheel
