  • Course Aim:


    Aimed at all people involved in the selection, wearing, storage and maintenance of airline respirators this training delivers the knowledge, understanding and skills to work with this equipment.

Further Information:


After completing the course, attendees will:

  • Understand the theory of why respiratory equipment is required
  • Be able to correctly wear airline respirator in accordance to manufacturers instructions
  • Understand requirements for air quality analysis 
  • Carry out pre use checks on the airline respirator
  • Be able to inspect airline respirators monthly and record findings in accordance with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)

Training course covers:

  • Reason for respiratory protective equipment
  • Hazards and risks of exposure
  • Recognise why respiratory protective equipment is needed for job
  • Reason for selection and fit testing (where necessary)
  • Air quality testing
  • Working principle of respiratory protective equipment
  • Correct fitting and pre use checks
  • Aftercare, cleaning and storage
  • Responsibilities of employee


This course follows the HSG53 requirements for respiratory training.

Assessment: Practical assessment on the wearing of the face mask and a written test.
Note: Face Fit Testing is required seperately to the course to ensure adequate fitting to an individual.
