Fixed Ladder Rescue

Working At Height

Course Aim

To provide delegates with the knowledge and practical experience to enable them to rescue a fellow worker from a fixed ladder. Casualty would be typically suspended by a fall arrest lanyard or system or other similar scenarios.

Course Content

• PPE – pre use checks and fitting (WAH PPE and sealed rescue kit)
• Rescue kit content awareness
• Anchor point selection
• Casualty lifting using rescue kit
• Casualty lowering
• Casualty care
• Suspension Syncope theory
• Theory and Practical assessments

Rescues are carried out using primarily casualty lifting and lowering techniques. Cut rescues may be used, but no longer considered industry best practice.

Aimed at

Experienced climbers familiar with fall arrest techniques. Examples include: telecoms rooftop workers, engineers, site rescue personnel.

Pre-requisite

Delegates must hold an in date Working at Height certificate prior to attending the course/
