Water Jetting Safety Awareness Training
Identify hazards and control risks when using water jetting equipment. You’ll understand water jetting systems, learn safe operational procedures and apply appropriate safety controls during tasks.
• Introduction to water jetting
The principles of water jetting operations, common applications and the role of safety awareness in reducing operational risk.
• WJA Codes of Practice and legal responsibilities
Key WJA guidance, Health and Safety at Work Act requirements and the responsibilities of those involved in water jetting operations.
• Types of water jetting pumps and systems
The different pump types, system classifications and associated safety devices used within water jetting operations.
• Hoses, ancillary equipment and nozzles
The components used in water jetting systems, including hoses, nozzles and supporting equipment, and how they affect operational safety.
• Team roles and operational responsibilities
Minimum team requirements, individual responsibilities and safe coordination of water jetting tasks.
• Accidents, hygiene and emergency response
Common causes of incidents, hygiene controls and the correct response to accidents or injuries involving water jetting equipment.
• Health and safety controls
Application of hierarchy of control principles, PPE requirements and hazard management for water jetting environments.
• Job design and task planning
How water jetting tasks are planned safely, including operational design considerations and risk controls.
• Application overview
An introduction to common water jetting applications, including surface preparation, drain and sewer work, tube and pipe cleaning and hydrodemolition.
• Assessment
Theory-based classroom assessment, with practical assessment for CNC automation candidates where applicable.
Classroom-based theory delivered through instructor-led sessions, facilitated discussion, case studies and knowledge assessment. CNC automation variants also include supervised practical assessment using live water jetting equipment.
Water jetting operatives, new entrants, managers, supervisors, site owners, permit issuers and health and safety personnel involved in the planning, management or operation of water jetting activities.
Delegates must be at least 16 years old and employed or in a structured training programme.
