
First Aid at Height Training
Respond effectively to workplace emergencies - including incidents involving work at height - in line with current first aid guidance and employer responsibilities. You’ll learn to assess casualties, apply the chain of survival and deliver life-saving treatment, including CPR and AED use, while managing injuries such as bleeding, shock, seizures and suspension syncope.

How to respond to workplace emergencies using a structured approach to ensure safety and effective care.
• Primary assessment (care cycle and patient survey)
How to assess a casualty using the care cycle, including scene survey, patient survey and responsive patient assessment.
• Exposure protection and infection control
How to protect yourself and others from exposure risks when delivering first aid.
• Recovery position and airway management
How and when to place a casualty in the recovery position and maintain an open airway.
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED use
How to perform CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively.
• Choking management
How to recognise and treat choking in conscious and unconscious casualties.
• Control of bleeding and shock management
How to manage external bleeding and recognise and respond to signs of shock.
• Seizures and epilepsy
How to respond to seizures safely and provide appropriate care following an episode.
• Minor injuries and burns
How to treat minor injuries, including cuts, burns and electrical injuries.
• Spinal injury awareness
How to recognise potential spinal injuries and minimise movement to prevent further harm.
• First aid equipment and reporting
Contents and use of a workplace first aid kit, including accident recording and patient report forms.
• Assessment
Practical skills assessment and written theory test completed at the end of the course.
Classroom-based instruction combined with practical, hands-on first aid scenarios designed to reflect real workplace emergencies. Training includes demonstration, supervised practice and assessment of both theoretical knowledge and practical competence in line with Emergency First Aid at Work requirements.
Employees, staff and volunteers who may be required to provide emergency first aid in the workplace, particularly in environments where height-related hazards are present. This includes organisations required to meet Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for first aid provision and individuals seeking practical workplace first aid training.
