Pendant Crane Refresher

The course typically covers a combination of theory and practical refresher training, including:

• Review health and safety legislation and responsibilities
  Refresh knowledge of relevant laws and duties, including operator responsibilities under current lifting and workplace safety regulations.
• Identify types of pendant cranes and their components
  Revisit the main crane types, controls, and key parts to ensure safe and correct operation.
• Carry out pre-use inspection and defect reporting
  Understand how to check equipment before use and correctly report faults to prevent unsafe operation.
• Apply safe operating techniques and controls
  Reinforce correct use of pendant controls to safely lift, lower, and manoeuvre loads.
• Understand load weights, centres of gravity, and stability
  Learn how to assess loads to prevent imbalance, swinging, or loss of control during lifting.
• Review correct slinging and lifting practices
  Refresh knowledge of safe attachment methods and the importance of selecting suitable lifting accessories.
• Recognise hazards and apply risk control measures
  Identify common lifting risks and implement effective controls to reduce the likelihood of accidents.
• Use clear communication and signalling methods
  Ensure effective coordination with others using recognised signals and communication techniques.
• Complete practical lifting exercises and manoeuvres
  Demonstrate safe operation through hands-on tasks, including positioning and moving loads in a controlled manner.

• Undertake theory and practical assessment
  Confirm competence through assessment of both knowledge and practical operating ability.

This course is designed for:

• Experienced pendant crane operators needing to refresh certification
• Employees returning to crane operation after a break
• Operators whose certification is due to expire
• Workers in industrial, manufacturing or warehouse environments using overhead cranes

• Valid or previous pendant crane training certificate (AITT or equivalent)
• Operating experience with pendant cranes
• Good understanding of spoken and written English
• Fit to operate machinery safely

This is a refresher course, so it is intended for experienced operators rather than beginners.
