
Slinging and Lifting Experienced
This Slinging and Lifting – Experienced course is designed to build upon existing knowledge and skills, enabling experienced personnel to carry out more complex slinging and lifting operations safely. The course focuses on advanced techniques, planning lifts, and reinforcing best practice to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations.
The aim of this course is to enable experienced learners to safely plan, sling and support a range of lifting operations, applying advanced techniques and ensuring compliance with current legislation and industry standards.
- Review Health and Safety Legislation and Responsibilities
Refresh knowledge of legal requirements including LOLER and PUWER, and reinforce responsibilities in lifting operations. -
Roles and Responsibilities of the Slinger/Signaller
Reinforce the importance of clear roles, communication and coordination during lifting activities. -
Advanced Lifting Equipment and Accessories
Identify a wider range of lifting accessories and understand their safe use in different scenarios. -
Inspection and Maintenance of Lifting Equipment
Refresh and extend knowledge on checking equipment condition and recognising defects. -
Load Assessment and Advanced Weight Calculations
Learn how to calculate load weights and assess complex loads, including irregular shapes and shifting centres of gravity. -
Advanced Slinging Techniques
Develop skills in selecting and applying appropriate slinging methods for a variety of load types. -
Complex and Non-Routine Lifting Operations
Understand how to approach unusual or high-risk lifts safely and effectively. -
Communication and Signalling in Challenging Environments
Reinforce clear signalling techniques, including working in restricted visibility or noisy environments. -
Lift Planning and Risk Assessment
Learn how to contribute to lift planning, including identifying hazards and applying control measures. -
Safe Working Practices and Positioning
Reinforce correct positioning to maintain visibility, control and personal safety during lifting operations. -
Practical Advanced Slinging and Lifting Exercises
Carry out supervised tasks involving more complex loads and lifting scenarios. -
Theory and Practical Assessment
Complete assessments to demonstrate both advanced knowledge and practical competence.
