CITA Offshore S-Cape Instructor Training
Instruct and assess others in the safe use of offshore S-Cape evacuation equipment, including controlled descents and water evacuation procedures. You'll develop hands-on competence with the system and the skills to teach correct techniques and evaluate candidates confidently. The course leads to certification awarded by the Competency and Information Transfer Association (CITA).
• Introduction to the S-Cape system
The design, purpose and offshore application of the S-Cape evacuation system, and the responsibilities of a CITA-scheme trainer and assessor in ensuring its correct use by platform personnel.
• Maintenance and servicing
The maintenance and servicing procedures required to keep S-Cape equipment in a safe and serviceable condition, including what inspections must be carried out and when equipment must be referred for service.
• Demonstrations of use
Instructor-led demonstrations of correct S-Cape operation before delegates progress to supervised practical exercises, providing a reference point for the techniques they will later be required to teach and assess.
• Practical low-level descents
How to carry out controlled low-level descents using the S-Cape system correctly, practised in a classroom-based environment before progressing to water-based evacuation exercises.
• Evacuation procedures into water
How to carry out a controlled S-Cape evacuation into water, practised in an environmental tank under instructor supervision, including the precautions required during water entry and the management of candidates during this element of training.
• Painter line strop
How to use the painter line strop correctly during water evacuation procedures, practised in the environmental tank as part of the full offshore evacuation sequence.
• Assessment
Continuous assessment throughout the course including written, oral and practical examinations, conducted in line with CITA scheme requirements.
Classroom-based theory, instructor-led demonstrations as well as practical exercises in controlled low-level and environmental tank scenarios.
Platform-based personnel with access to offshore S-Cape equipment who are responsible for using, instructing or assessing others in the safe operation of this evacuation system.
Delegates must provide a completed application form with supporting evidence of experience and competency, and must meet the minimum experience and competency requirements as specified in CITA guidelines.
