Tower Crane Rescue Training
Rescue colleagues and tower crane operators safely from elevated structures when high-risk incidents occur. You'll learn to select anchor points, operate rescue kits, manage casualty lifting and lowering, and recognise and respond to suspension syncope - meeting your duties under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
• PPE inspection and fitting
How to carry out pre-use checks and correctly fit working at height PPE and the sealed rescue kit before use, including verifying that all components are present and the kit has not been previously deployed.
• Rescue kit components
The components of the sealed rescue kit, what each is used for and how the system functions as a complete solution for casualty lifting and lowering from a tower crane or elevated structure.
• Anchor point selection
How to identify and assess suitable anchor points for a rescue on a tower crane or elevated structure, including the load requirements of a two-person system and the constraints specific to tower crane access.
• Casualty lifting and lowering
How to use the rescue kit to lift and lower a casualty safely, including rigging the system, managing the load and maintaining control throughout — covering scenarios where the casualty is suspended in a fall arrest system or incapacitated on a platform.
• Casualty care
How to manage a casualty during and following rescue, including initial assessment, positioning and the precautions required while awaiting handover to emergency services.
• Suspension syncope
How suspension syncope develops, why speed of recovery is critical, the signs to look for in a suspended casualty and the immediate actions required following rescue to reduce the risk of serious harm.
• Assessment
Theory test and observed practical assessment in simulated rescue scenarios, evaluated by the course instructor.
Course combining classroom instruction with practical rescue exercises on tower crane structures. Scenarios include casualties suspended in fall arrest systems and casualties incapacitated on elevated platforms, practised under instructor supervision.
Experienced climbers and site personnel familiar with fall protection techniques, including construction operatives, tower crane hire and maintenance engineers and site rescue teams.
Delegates must have completed a full working at height course that includes practical training. Delegates must provide proof of certification prior to attendance.
