EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Telecommunications Training - Virtual Course
The EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Telecommunications course provides delegates with the essential health, safety and environmental knowledge required to work safely within the telecommunications industry. Combining core workplace health and safety awareness with telecommunications-specific requirements, the course helps delegates understand their responsibilities, recognise workplace hazards and apply safe working practices when working on telecoms infrastructure, networks and associated operational sites. Successful completion provides an industry-recognised EUSR registration and demonstrates an appropriate level of safety awareness for access to telecommunications environments.
• Introduction to SHEA Telecommunications
An overview of the SHEA scheme, its purpose and the importance of maintaining safe working practices within the telecommunications industry.
• Understanding Workplace Responsibilities
Learning about the responsibilities of employers, employees and contractors in creating and maintaining safe and healthy working environments.
• Environmental Awareness
Understanding how work activities can impact the environment and the measures required to minimise environmental harm and support sustainable operations.
• Risk Assessment and Hazard Control
Learning how hazards are identified, risks assessed and suitable control measures implemented to reduce workplace risks.
• Common Workplace Hazards
Understanding the hazards commonly encountered within utility and infrastructure environments and the practical measures used to control them.
• Occupational Health Hazards

• Telecommunications Industry Overview
Learning about telecommunications infrastructure, networks and the environments in which telecoms activities are undertaken.
• Working Safely on Telecommunications Sites
Understanding the hazards associated with telecoms installations and maintenance activities, including street works, network infrastructure and operational locations.
• Electrical and Utility Hazards
Exploring the risks associated with working near electrical equipment, underground services and other utility infrastructure.
• Working at Height Awareness
Understanding the hazards associated with working at height during telecommunications activities and the importance of following safe working procedures.
• Highway Working and Site Safety
Learning about the risks associated with working near roads, public highways and pedestrian areas, and the controls required to protect workers and the public.
• Safe Systems of Work
Understanding permits to work, risk assessments, method statements and other procedures used to safely manage work activities.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Learning about the selection, use, maintenance and limitations of PPE used within the telecommunications industry.
• Behavioural Safety and Safety Culture
Understanding how personal attitudes and behaviours contribute to a positive safety culture and help prevent accidents and incidents.
• Assessment
Delegates complete the EUSR assessment to demonstrate their understanding of the SHEA Telecommunications modules and the safe working practices required within the telecommunications industry.
Training is delivered through a combination of:
- Instructor-led teaching
- Technical presentations
- Group discussions
- Interactive learning activities
- Industry examples and case studies
Delegates are encouraged to actively participate throughout the course to develop their understanding of health, safety and environmental responsibilities within the telecommunications industry.
This course is designed for operatives, contractors, engineers, supervisors and other personnel who require access to operational sites within the telecommunications industry. It is suitable for individuals involved in the installation, maintenance, repair and management of telecommunications infrastructure and networks.
