Monopole Access and Rescue Training
Perform access and rescue operations safely on a monopole structure. You will develop practical skills for casualty lifting and lowering using fall arrest systems, with hands-on experience on the Latchways MonoStep system or a comparable access solution.
• PPE selection, fitting and pre-use checks
How to correctly select, fit and inspect working at height PPE and sealed rescue kits prior to use.
• Latchways MonoStep system setup
How to install, configure and use the Latchways MonoStep system or equivalent access system for safe monopole access.
• Work positioning techniques
How to maintain safe and stable positioning while working on monopole structures using approved systems.
• Rescue kit content awareness
Understanding the components of monopole rescue kits and their correct use during emergency procedures.
• Anchor point selection
How to identify and select suitable anchor points for safe access and rescue operations.
• Casualty lifting techniques
How to safely raise a suspended casualty using rescue equipment and controlled lifting procedures.
• Casualty lowering techniques
How to safely lower a casualty to a point of safety using approved rescue systems.
• Casualty care and management
Immediate actions required following recovery of a casualty, including monitoring and basic care.
• Suspension syncope awareness
Understanding suspension syncope, its risks following suspension in fall arrest systems and the importance of timely rescue.
• Assessment
Theory and practical assessments completed throughout the course to confirm competence in monopole access and rescue operations.
Classroom-based theory combined with practical, instructor-led monopole access and rescue exercises using the Latchways MonoStep system or equivalent access solution. Training focuses on safe access, fall protection, casualty lifting and lowering techniques in line with recognised working at height procedures.
Experienced telecoms climbers, engineers and site rescue personnel familiar with fall arrest systems and rescue operations on monopole structures.
