Noise Awareness
Prolonged exposure to noise at work causes permanent hearing damage and unlike many workplace injuries, it is irreversible. This course covers the risks associated with workplace noise, how to identify hazards, what control measures are required and how to select, fit and maintain hearing protection correctly. Completed entirely online, it supports compliance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005.
• Noise risks and health effects
How to identify common sources of workplace noise, the short- and long-term effects of noise exposure on hearing, and how risk assessment findings inform the controls required.
• Control measures
How to reduce noise exposure through engineering controls, changes to working practices and administrative measures, and how to apply the hierarchy of controls to noise risk management
• Hearing protection
How to select, correctly fit, use and maintain personal hearing protection, and why correct fitting is as important as the protection rating when it comes to reducing exposure effectively.
• Assessment
