
Overhead Hoist Novice
This Overhead Hoist Training Novice course is designed to provide learners with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate overhead hoists. The course covers key safety principles, correct operating procedures and practical exercises to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations in the workplace.
The aim of this course is to enable learners to safely and competently operate an overhead hoist, in accordance with current legislation and best practice, reducing risks associated with lifting and handling loads.
- Health and Safety Legislation and Responsibilities
Learn the key legal requirements relating to lifting operations and understand operator responsibilities in the workplace. -
Introduction to Overhead Hoists and Components
Understand the types of hoists, their controls and key components used during lifting operations. -
Pre-Use Inspection and Defect Reporting
Learn how to carry out checks before use and report faults to ensure equipment remains safe. -
Safe Operating Techniques and Controls
Develop the skills to safely lift, lower and manoeuvre loads using the hoist controls. -
Understanding Load Weights and Stability
Learn how to assess loads to ensure they are within capacity and remain stable during lifting. -
Basic Slinging and Attachment Methods
Gain awareness of how loads are safely attached using lifting accessories. -
Hazard Awareness and Risk Control Measures
Identify common hazards associated with hoist use and understand how to reduce risks. -
Safe Working Practices and Positioning
Learn how to position yourself safely and maintain control during operations. -
