
Overhead Remote Crane Novice
This Overhead Remote Crane Novice course is designed to provide learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate an overhead crane using remote controls. The course combines theory and practical training to ensure safe, efficient and compliant lifting operations in the workplace.
The aim of this course is to enable learners to safely and competently operate an overhead remote-controlled crane, in accordance with current legislation and best practice, reducing risks associated with lifting operations.
- Health and Safety Legislation and Responsibilities
Learn the key legal requirements relating to lifting operations, including LOLER and PUWER, and understand operator responsibilities. -
Introduction to Overhead Remote Cranes and Controls
Understand the types of overhead cranes and how remote-control systems operate, including limitations and safe use. -
Pre-Use Inspection and Defect Reporting
Learn how to carry out thorough safety checks and correctly report any faults to maintain safe working equipment. -
Safe Operation of Remote Controls
Develop the skills to operate the crane safely using remote devices, ensuring precise and controlled load movements. -
Understanding Load Weights, Centres of Gravity and Stability
Learn how to assess loads to ensure balance, prevent swinging and maintain stability during lifting operations. -
