PASMA Towers for Users Course (Mobile Access Tower Training)
A mobile access tower that is incorrectly assembled, poorly positioned or moved without proper checks is a serious fall risk - and the consequences of getting it wrong at height are severe. This one-day PASMA course gives delegates the knowledge and practical skills to assemble, alter, dismantle, move and inspect mobile access towers safely, using both the Through the Trap (3T) and Advanced Guardrail (AGR) methods, in compliance with working at height legislation and the PASMA Code of Practice. On successful completion, delegates receive a PASMA Certificate of Competence and a digital PASMAcard valid for five years.
• Legislation, regulations and guidance
The working at height legislation, regulations and guidance relevant to mobile access tower use, including the Work at Height Regulations 2005, the PASMA Code of Practice and EN 1004 industry standards.
• Assembly, alteration and dismantling
How to assemble, alter and dismantle mobile access towers safely using the Through the Trap (3T) and Advanced Guardrail (AGR) methods, including correct component sequencing and the precautions required at each stage.
• Tower stability, positioning and movement
How to ensure correct tower stability and positioning before use, and how to move a tower safely on site without creating risk to the operator or others in the vicinity.
• Inspection and defect management
How to identify damaged or unsafe components, assess whether a tower is fit for use, complete inspection records accurately and manage defects effectively — including taking a tower out of service when required.
• Hazard identification and control
The common hazards associated with mobile access tower use — including falls from height, instability and environmental risks such as wind and uneven surfaces — and the control measures required to manage each.
• Assessment
Theory test and observed practical assessment to confirm knowledge and competency in mobile access tower assembly, inspection and use.
