To enable novice operators to safely and competently operate a pendant crane, in accordance with current legislation and best practice, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring safe lifting operations.
- Understand health and safety legislation and responsibilities
Learn the key legal requirements and operator duties for safe lifting operations in the workplace. -
Identify types of pendant cranes and their components
Gain knowledge of different crane types, their controls, and essential parts used during operation. -
Carry out pre-use inspections and report defects
Learn how to check cranes and lifting accessories for faults and follow correct reporting procedures. -
Operate pendant crane controls safely and effectively
Develop the ability to use controls correctly to lift, lower, and move loads in a controlled manner. -
Understand load weights, centres of gravity, and stability
Learn how to assess loads to ensure they are balanced and safe to lift without risk of tipping or swinging. -
Apply correct slinging and lifting techniques
Gain practical knowledge of attaching loads securely using appropriate lifting accessories. -
Recognise hazards and implement risk control measures
Identify common workplace and lifting hazards and understand how to minimise risks. -
