Understanding legislation
Covering Work at Height and other relevant legislation governing telecommunications work.
Managing risk
Applying the hierarchy of risk control and selecting appropriate work methods for the task.
Recognising PICW responsibilities
Understanding the responsibilities and competence required to act as Person in Charge of Works.
Building a safety culture
Exploring safety culture and human factors, and how they influence day-to-day decision-making.
Delivering briefings
Running inductions, briefings and toolbox talks effectively.
Identifying and managing risk
Recognising hazards on site and applying appropriate control measures.
Monitoring works
Overseeing ongoing work to ensure it remains safe and compliant.
Reviewing safe systems of work
Carrying out risk assessments, and reviewing safe systems of work, permits and rescue plans.
Implementing change
Managing changes to plans or conditions safely and effectively.
Reporting incidents
Reporting and investigating incidents in line with procedure.
Controlling contractors
Managing contractor control and resolving conflict on site.
Assessment
Completion of classroom-based practical exercises and theory question paper
EUSR-approved course combining classroom instruction with practical risk assessment, method statement exercises and associated documents.
Experienced field-based telecommunications operatives who supervise others on a day-to-day basis, such as team leaders and site supervisors.
Delegates must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working at height and in the telecoms industry.
