
Rooftop Safety and Access Working at Height Training
Safely access and work on flat roofs, including protected and unprotected areas. You will gain practical skills in using personal fall protection equipment, climbing fixed and portable ladders, and controlling rooftop hazards, while understanding relevant legislation and emergency procedures.

How to identify hazards associated with rooftop work and apply appropriate risk assessment principles.
• Rooftop hazards and control measures
Common hazards found on flat roofs and the control measures used to reduce risk during access and work.
• PPE selection, fitting and pre-use checks
How to correctly select, fit and inspect harnesses, helmets, fall arrest and work positioning lanyards before use.
• Use of portable ladders for roof access
Safe use of portable ladders when accessing and exiting roof areas.
• Edge protection and fall prevention systems
How edge protection systems reduce fall risk and how they are used in rooftop environments.
• Horizontal and vertical access systems
Use of fixed and temporary access systems, including horizontal lifelines and vertical fall protection systems.
• Climbing and movement techniques on rooftops
Safe movement techniques when using harnesses, lanyards and fixed systems in exposed roof environments.
• Emergency procedures awareness
How to respond to emergencies and understand site-specific rescue arrangements when working at height.
• Assessment
Theory and practical assessment of rooftop access and fall protection competence completed at the end of the course.
The course can include EUSR accreditation when run at one of our training centres, which will be accepted by Arqiva, Cellnex, MBNL, CTIL, EE, Vodafone, Telefonica, BT, Network Rail and other MATS group member sites. If required, please select EUSR registration fee as an additional product when booking your space.

Classroom-based theory combined with practical, instructor-led exercises in rooftop access and fall protection systems. Training focuses on safe access, movement, hazard control and use of personal fall protection equipment in exposed roof environments.
Telecoms site access staff, facilities management operatives and other personnel required to work on flat roofs using ladders and harness-based fall protection systems. This course is a mandatory requirement for those working on BT and Arqiva sites.
Delegates must be physically capable of working at height and should have experience of PPE and fall protection systems.
