SPA Core Safety Passport Training
The SPA Core Safety Passport course provides delegates with a recognised level of health and safety awareness for working within high-risk industries. The course covers the fundamental health, safety and environmental principles required to work safely on industrial and commercial sites, helping delegates understand their responsibilities, recognise workplace hazards and contribute to maintaining safe working environments. Successful completion provides a foundation for accessing a range of industries that utilise the SPA Passport Scheme.

An overview of the SPA Passport Scheme, its purpose and the importance of maintaining high standards of health and safety within the workplace.
• Health and Safety Responsibilities
Understanding the legal responsibilities of employers, employees, contractors and visitors, and their role in promoting workplace safety.
• Accident Prevention and Reporting
Learning the importance of reporting accidents, incidents and near misses, and understanding how effective reporting contributes to improved safety performance.
• Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
Understanding how hazards are identified, risks are assessed and suitable control measures are implemented to protect people and property.
• Safe Systems of Work
Exploring the importance of following site rules, permits to work, risk assessments and method statements when carrying out work activities.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Understanding the selection, use, limitations and maintenance of PPE and its role in reducing workplace risks.
• Manual Handling Awareness
Learning the risks associated with manual handling activities and the principles of safe lifting and handling techniques.
• Working at Height Awareness
Understanding the risks associated with working at height and the measures used to prevent falls and related injuries.
• Workplace Transport and Plant Safety
Recognising the hazards associated with vehicles, mobile plant and workplace transport systems, and understanding how to work safely around them.
• Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures
Learning how fires can occur, the actions required in an emergency and the importance of following site evacuation procedures.
• Environmental Awareness
Understanding environmental responsibilities and how workplace activities can impact the environment, including pollution prevention and waste management.
• Behavioural Safety and Safety Culture
Exploring how individual attitudes and behaviours influence workplace safety and contribute to a positive safety culture.
• Assessment
Delegates complete the SPA assessment to demonstrate their understanding of core health, safety and environmental principles.

There are no formal prerequisites for this course.
