
UKATA Non-Licensed Asbestos Operative Refresher Training
The UKATA Non-Licensed Asbestos Operative Refresher course enables delegates to refresh and update their knowledge of asbestos safety, legislation and safe working practices. Designed for individuals who have previously completed non-licensed asbestos training, the course reinforces the controls, procedures and responsibilities associated with non-licensed asbestos work, helping delegates maintain competence and continue working safely in accordance with current regulations and industry guidance.
• Asbestos Awareness Refresher
Reviewing the properties of asbestos, where it may be found and the health risks associated with exposure to asbestos fibres.
• Updates to Legislation and Guidance
Understanding any changes to asbestos legislation, guidance documents and industry best practice since previous training was completed.
• Types of Asbestos and Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACMs)
Refreshing knowledge of the different types of asbestos and the materials in which they are commonly found.
• Health Risks and Exposure Prevention
Revisiting the health effects of asbestos exposure and the importance of maintaining effective control measures.
• Non-Licensed Work Requirements
Reviewing the types of work that fall within the scope of non-licensed asbestos activities and the controls required to undertake them safely.
• Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
Reinforcing the importance of planning asbestos work activities through suitable risk assessments, method statements and safe working procedures.
• Control Measures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Refreshing understanding of dust suppression techniques, control measures, respiratory protective equipment (RPE) and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Decontamination Procedures
Reviewing personal decontamination processes and measures used to prevent the spread of asbestos contamination.
• Asbestos Waste Handling and Disposal
Understanding the requirements for the safe handling, packaging and disposal of asbestos waste materials.

Typical course hours are 08:30–12:30 or 13:00–17:00. Exact start and finish times may vary depending on the training centre and course schedule. Training is delivered through a combination of:
