This IOSH-approved, CPD-accredited course explains what makes a confined space dangerous, how to identify specified risks, what the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 require of employers and employees, and how to prepare for entry safely. Completed entirely online, it provides foundational awareness for anyone who works in or around confined or poorly ventilated spaces.

How a confined space is defined under the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997, the five specified risks — including oxygen deficiency, toxic atmospheres and engulfment — and why conditions can deteriorate rapidly without warning.
• Legal duties and responsibilities
What the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 require of employers and employees, including the primary duty to avoid entry where reasonably practicable, and what must be in place when entry cannot be avoided.
• Preparing for entry
How to carry out a risk assessment before entering a confined space, the safe systems of work and emergency arrangements that must be in place, and the safe methods for entering and exiting the space.
