Basic Abseil

Course Aim

To provide delegates with the knowledge and practical experience to enable them to safely ascend and descend on straight drops with no intermediate anchor points.

Course Content

· Legislation for Working at Height
· Risk Assessment awareness
· Personal suspension equipment, use, care and inspection.
· Descending
· Ascending
· Back-up devices
· Change-over manoeuvre
· Passing a 90 degree edge
· Passing a small deviation
· Selection of anchor points
· Use of slings and wire strops
· Rigging of ropes
· Snatch rescue
· Theory and Practical assessments

The course will involve elements of classroom and practical tuition.

Aimed At

Persons who are required to abseil for construction or maintenance purposes. Examples include: Telecoms climbers, structural inspectors, etc If delegates require more in-depth training with more manoeuvres, the IRATA Rope access training scheme would be suggested.
