Client Brief

BAE Systems is the largest defence contractor in Europe and among the world’s largest defence companies. With multiple sites and 34,000 employees across the UK, BAE Systems’ safety services needs are complex and varied across their Air, Land and Sea divisions. Rigorous security process means that onboarding suppliers can be time consuming therefore its crucial for suppliers to add value in several areas.

BAE Systems were looking for a Safety partner that understood their business and could offer expert advice in safety critical areas across their business. They looked to Arco Professional Safety Services to deliver a range of work at height, confined space and bespoke health and safety training courses, by experienced safety professionals in a safe but realistic environment that considers their organisational culture, beliefs, and ways of work.

As the UK’s only integrated services and safety products business, we were in the unique position to be able to partner with BAE Systems to provide them with a holistic end-to-end solution that goes beyond just PPE.

Our experienced safety consultants and instructors have worked with BAE Systems for a number of years and have a good knowledge of the business. Combining this deep understanding of BAE Systems with their own industry experience, our highly skilled team were able to design and tailor a number of work at height, confined space and health and safety training courses to ensure their operational team were aware of the key hazards and risks on site and more importantly how to work safely.

Our Key Client Manager also works closely with BAE Systems to ensure the course contents are reviewed regularly and provides feedback to both parties so that any changes can be captured and implemented quickly. Courses are uploading onto their electronic ordering platform, so that the booking and payment process is simple.

Along with having a dedicated Key Client Manager in place for BAE Systems, we have introduced other subject matter experts to their key stakeholders to help share best practice. Our services extend beyond PPE and Safety Training. Our Respiratory Specialists also provide face fit testing, respiratory training as well as the servicing and maintenance of Powered Respiratory Products. The team capture the servicing records on our Customer Asset Tracking (CAT) system for COSHH compliance. The CAT system provides an audit log of what work has been carried out, by who and when.

Our integrated relationship with BAE Systems has also meant we’ve been able to respond with agility during the unprecedented times of COVID, by offering flexibility in training delivery using video conference training and mobile confined space training.
