TOTAL ACCESS EXPERTS AT SPE OFFSHORE EUROPE 2015

Over 63,000 professionals from around the world gathering at SPE Offshore Europe 2015 (8th to 11th September 2015, Aberdeen, UK) will witness the latest confined space and vessel entry training from Total Access (UK) Ltd (stand 1C121), now part of leading safety company Arco.

Confined spaces are dangerous in any industry; however, in a major hazards industry such as oil and gas, they can be deadly due to the inherent risks encountered at onshore or offshore installations. In these environments the need for correctly fitting, high performance confined space entry equipment and training to the highest standards is paramount.

“The combined expertise from Total Access (UK) Limited and Arco make our offer to the oil and gas industry a formidable proposition” said Ben Haughton, Technical Director, Total Access (UK) Ltd “we are now able to provide a wide range of high specification equipment, training and safety services right in the heart of the oil and gas industry here in Aberdeen”.

The centrepieces on the stand will be the Portacount Pro Plus 8030 respirator fit tester and the Offshore Mk VI S-Cape personal evacuation system. “Video footage of vessel entry and S-Cape training will be broadcast on the Total Access stand throughout the show” Haughton adds.

Respirator fit testing, commonly known as “Face fit testing” is a service that can be delivered at offshore locations by the Aberdeen based Arco respiratory team who are Optio approved. The service together with the Portacount equipment provides an important control measure to ensure that respirator or breathing apparatus is correctly fitted to the individual user; a critical consideration when facing environments containing hydrogen sulphide or other toxic gasses.

The Offshore S-Cape MK VI personal escape device  provides a versatile means of controlled descent from offshore installations such as platforms, tankers and drill rigs in the event that an emergency escalates to a point where the standard evacuation systems can no longer be used. The personal evacuation system uses basic abseiling techniques which anyone with appropriate training can perform safely.

To ensure the complete safety of its customers when using the equipment, Total Access has now designed a comprehensive training suite as part of the Offshore S-Cape Mk VI package which visitors to the stand can also learn more about. This is simple to deliver by training providers and clients alike who can have their own staff trained as Instructors. The training suite is fully supported by Total Access using a DVD platform, online and telephone assistance.

With Total Access now part of the Arco family, customers will have access to Arco’s complete range of safety products as well as its award-winning training solutions that complement the Total Access portfolio.

Total Access customers now also benefit from Arco’s confined space entry mobile training unit

The training unit from Arco Training and Consultancy enables both theoretical and practical training in confined space entry and exit, face fit and breathing apparatus training to take place at any location, enabling a rapid set up, minimal disruption and cost saving benefits.

The unit incorporates the latest technologies throughout to simulate different industrial confined space scenarios in a safe environment. The facility enables trainees to be immersed in a highly realistic learning experience, including variable light levels, noise programmes and smoke, plus configurable room layouts over two floors.  Real-time monitoring and videoing also allows for continual monitoring of activity, live instruction from the trainer and observer learning outside the tunnels system.
