Course Aim
To provide delegate/s with the correct skills, knowledge and understanding to be able to safely and effectively use a Mobile Access Scaffold Tower.
Course Contents
- Understand the safety, benefit and legal reasons for completing training
- Identify the governing laws and legislations that are associated with training and safe operation of equipment
- Understand the British European standards
- Be aware of asbestos awareness when using towers
- Be aware of the need to refer to the manufacturer’s manual
- Select and identify the correct Personal Protective Equipment for the job/task when using mobile access towers
- How to complete inspections of completed tower units and tower inspection records
- Be able to identify hazards when using mobile access towers
- Be aware of and be able to complete pre-use checks of the equipment
- Identify the correct manufacturer’s manual for the equipment and make reference to it
- Be able to prepare the towers ensuring stability and covering tying in
- Know how to assemble, alter and dismantle towers

This course is ran in conjunction with an approved third party supplier
For the course to go ahead the following facilities are required:
- An indoor practical area with a minimum free height of 6 metres
- An appropriate tower in sound condition which complies to EN1004 with a minimum platform height of 4 metres (6 metres working height) and utilises both the 3T and Advance Guardrail Systems – please be aware that all components must be present. Two separate towers can be used to achieve this
- The equipment should be available for a visual check by the instructor prior to the theory session. If the equipment is deemed unfit for use during a pre-use inspection or there are missing components, then the practical element of the course will be cancelled and fully chargeable
- Delegates attending must bring their own Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including hi-vis clothing, safety footwear, eye and glove protection, and a hard hat (chin strap preferable), in accordance with your company policy
- A copy of the tower’s current instruction manual must be made available to the instructor on the day of training. This must be in English. Practical training cannot be completed without this
- NB: ‘one person’ towers are not to be used for the practical assessment
